Three people have been arrested after BMW led police on a seven-mile chase.
Lancashire Constabulary said the vehicle ‘made off from police’ close to Squires Gate Industrial Estate in Blackpool. It then drove ‘at speed’ towards Lytham with officers in pursuit assisted by a police helicopter.
The vehicle was eventually stopped on Preston Road. The incident happened at around 8.35pm last night (July 19) and pictures shared on social media show three police vehicles blocking Preston Road at the junction with Lorne Street and Dock Road and an officer diverting traffic away.
A police spokesperson told LancsLive: “Around 8.35pm yesterday (July 19) a vehicle made off from police close to Squires Gate Industrial Estate, Blackpool. The vehicle, a BMW, was driven at speed, travelling towards Lytham.
“Following a pursuit the car was stopped in Preston Road. Two men aged 25 and 26, from Walsall, were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
“A third man, aged 24 and also from Walsall, was arrested on suspicion of taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent. All are currently in custody.”
