The owner snapped back “love providing for my family despite k**** like you”
The owner of a Blackpool hotel has shared his sassy snap back at a guest who rated them three stars and called him “Mr Grumpy”.
The Sandringham Court Hotel & Legends Public Sports Bar on Reads Avenue is rated four-stars overall following 346 reviews left by previous guests on TripAdvisor. The hotel has 46 en suite bedrooms with late bar facilities available for their guests in the Legends Sports Bar.
The hotel is said to welcome “well-behaved groups and couples” for both “lively party weekends”, but also for a “relaxed” mid-week breaks where families can get a double room at a budget price, upcoming dates begin at around £50 for the night. But one guest, who stayed at the hotel in May, left the hotel with a bone to pick. He took to TripAdvisor to call the Owner, Steve Hopkins, “Mr Grumpy”.
Of the 346 reviews left by guests, 152 have rated it as “excellent”. User Gill37 is among those rating the Sandringham as five-stars after her stay in June. She explains: “We had a superior room which was well worth it. So nice size lovely and clean. Only about 10 minutes from the tower. All the staff were so nice and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and the time. The bar was excellent and the staff very friendly.”
A second guest, Donna S, said she had a “fab weekend” after staying there at the beginning of July and thanked the “fab hosts” and “outstanding” staff for making it so.
But the unhappy guest, who goes by the name NewcastleMick, rated the Sandringham three-stars after his stay and titled his review “Mr Grumpy”.
He then explains: “The guy who owner of hotel is the most pig headed I’ve ever met the way he speaks to customers is very rude it could be lovely if they got rid of him everything thing else was good food staff etc I suggest he gets a job he likes he obviously doesn’t enjoy the job he has.”
Mick rated the hotel three-stars overall, ranking them three-stars on cleanliness and sleep quality, but just one-star for their service.
On June 4, Owner Steve Hopkins snapped back at the harsh review. He wrote: “Love my job Mick. Love being called Grumpy too. Love providing for my family despite k**** like you.”
He then adds: “Next”.
Its not the first time Steve has snapped back at a disgruntled review. Back in March, a guest by the username Lynie said the hotel was “not bad” and rated them three-stars overall.
She explained: “Stayed in this hotel staff friendly. You have to pay a £20 security deposit which is not advertised. I did email the hotel at least 2/3 months b4 [sic] stay and asked for us to be near each other with the rooms (2 couples) which was acknowledged but on arrival we were in rooms on the opposite side of each other no where near.
“The window in the bathroom would not shut. I wanted to make sure I got my deposit back so I informed the owner. Very miserable man his reply was yes I will be getting round to that. My friend advised him that her room was really cold and could she have heating on for a short while. He replied weather is too mild (it was freezing) and also replied 3 and your out. Not a nice man. The hotel itself is for the younger generation but very clean”
Steve responded: “Perhaps invest in a sense of humour love. Might come in handy on your next holiday!”
