A man has been detained by police after a rooftop stand-off with police in Blackpool.
Emergency services were called to the Kimberley Hotel on South Promenade following reports a man was on the roof. The area was cordoned off by police as negotiators attempted to bring the man safely down.
The incident was first reported by Blackpool Police on their Facebook page shortly after 6pm on Monday (May 9). In a statement, a spokesperson said: “We are currently at a scene at the Kimberley Hotel on the South Promenade where a man is on the roof.
“Our officers are working hard to bring the incident to a safe and swift conclusion. In the meantime, we would ask you to avoid the area if possible.”
Lancashire Constabulary said the incident was resolved nearly two hours later and the man was safely brought down. He was detained under the Mental Health Act.
The age of the man has not been disclosed. No injuries were reported and the area has since fully reopened.
A force spokesperson told LancsLive: “He was brought down safely at around 8pm and was detained under the Mental Health Act.
