There’s lots of things to see at the theatre
Blackpool is famous for its illuminations, but this year there will be lots to see and do at the Grand Theatre during the season.
Blackpool lights will host the big switch on this year on Friday, September 2. But at the same time, the Grand Theatre will light up with a 90-minute show of Twelfth Night running from September 29 to October 1.
If this doesn’t take your fancy you could see a production of The Tiger Who Came to Tea, as the book is brought to life from October 7 to October 9. If you’re more of a Disney fan you could see Beauty and the Beast on August 14.
Between November 8 and 9, children can enjoy the interactive Dinosaur Live or why not get the whole family together on December 12 for the magical Grand Christmas Concert. The pantomime this year is Sleeping Beauty starring Britain’s Got Talent finalist Steve Royle and Dancing on Ice champion Hayley Tamaddon.
It will run from December 2 to January 1. Blackpool lights will end on January 2, however, the performances at the Grand Theatre don’t stop there. A performance from Blackpool and Fylde Children’s Pantomime of the Wizard of Oz will run from January 27 to 29.
On February 7, Tap Factory will come to Blackpool. Shortly after this, on March 10, Strictly champ Giovanni Pernice will take a trip to Blackpool to perform.
Shrek the Musical is inviting families to come and join them between April 5 and 8. But the fun doesn’t stop there because the Ugly Duckling will be performed by the Northern Ballet on April 21. If science is more your thing you might want to see the Ministry of Science on June 18.
This year’s Big Switch On for Blackpool Lights is September 2 and the world-famous Illuminations need little introduction. With six miles of traditional festoons, tableaux and interactive features along the Promenade, no wonder it’s commonly known as the greatest free light show on Earth.
