Carol concerts are a long-standing traditional part of the festive season, bringing people together. From Silent Night to Oh Come All Ye Faithful, most of us will have a favourite, that they know all the lyrics to off by heart.
Carol singing can be wholesome and magical and most concerts are free or carry a minimal ticket entry fee. So whether you like to sing your heart out to O Holy Night, especially at all the high, dramatic notes at the end or listing to a choir perform a beautiful rendition of God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen, there’s a host of carol events taking place across the county in December.
So, warm up those vocal chords, gran your song sheet, fill up on festive cheer and head down to one of these Christmas carol concerts.

Christmas Carol Concerts, Mitton Hall, Clitheroe
When: Sunday, December 18, from 5pm to 7pm
Head to Mitton Hall Hotel for a carol concert with the the Grand Choir. There will be hot food, mulled wine and mince pies available throughout. Tickets are £5 and can be purchased in advance, here with proceeds donated to charity.
A Christmas Celebration Concert, Bacup Royal Court Theatre
When: Saturday, December 10, 7.30pm to 9.30pm
Celebrate the 150th anniversary of Stacksteads Brass band and join them for a concert with St Anne’s Community Choir also performing. The event will feature a mix of classic Christmas songs, carols and festive film favourites.
Opera singer Sean Ruane will also perform as a special guest.
Adult tickets are £10 while under-18s are £4.
Christmas with a Swing, Pendle Hippodrome Theatre, Colne
When: Saturday, December 17, from 7.30pm
Listen to a huge array of festive classics and modern favourites including Let it Snow, Santa Baby, All I want for Christmas is you, Baby It’s Cold…
Tickets are £10 for adults and £1 for under-16s and they can be purchased here
Winckley Square Christmas Concert, Preston
When: Sunday, December 11 from 3pm to 5.30pm
Head down to the square in the heart of Preston for a night of festive song and an electric performance from the colourful SPARK! drummers. Sings carols around the huge Christmas tree with St Stephens Choir.
The Inbetweeners, a local ukulele band will also be playing a set and listen out for Kenny on the bagpipes. There will be a licensed bar, hot food and drinks including mulled wine and the event is free to attend.
Preston Orpheus Choir Christmas Concert, St Aidan’s Church, Bamber Bridge
When: Saturday, December 10, 7pm to 9pm
Preston Orpheus Choir will be joined by Freckleton Brass Band and St Pius X Catholic Preparatory School Choir for a Christmas concert extravaganza. Advance tickets start at £4 for under-18s and family entry is £25 (prices rise for admission on the night).
