The best of Blackpool’s eateries – according to some, anyway
Blackpool is full to the brim of excellent places to eat.
The town more than rises to the challenge of offering residents and tourists alike a wide range of cuisines, but with such a big choice, it can be difficult to know exactly where to look. After all, there’s nothing worse than a disappointing tea.
As the weather heats up, more and more people will be planning to take a trip to the seaside, so you need to plan ahead and get booked in to ensure you’re getting the best Blackpool has to offer.
We took the liberty of looking at the top ten places to eat in Blackpool according to their TripAdvisor reviews. You’ll be pleased to know that there are less than 100 “terrible” reviews between them.
1. The Bank Bar & Grill
The Bank Bar & Grill is a family run bar & grill restaurant in the centre of Blackpool. The restaurant, on Corporation Street, serves brunch, lunch and and evening A La Carte menu.
The bar and grill has also been awarded Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best, an award which is given annually to businesses that consistently receive Excellent and Very Good ratings from their customers. Travellers’ Choice winners are among the top 10% of businesses on Tripadvisor.
As with the others on this list, The Bank has a rating of 5 – the highest possible on Trip Advisor – and of the 1262 reviews, 1173 are “excellent.”
The most recent review, left just days ago (June 26) reads: “An absolute must visit for anyone visiting Blackpool! The food is absolutely divine, nothing is too much trouble for the staff and everyone was so friendly. We felt so welcomed by each staff member which made for a really lovely evening. The steak is literally the best steak I’ve ever had and the peppercorn sauce was delicious!”
2. Ciao Ciao
Ciao Ciao is an Italian and Mediterranean Restaurant on Devonshire Road. They serve a wide variety of dishes, but they say that fresh fish and fillet steaks are their specialty.
The restaurant also offers vegan options as well as gluten free options.
Ciao Ciao has been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food, service, and value for money. 616 of the 671 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left just three days ago (June 26) reads: “I don’t normally leave reviews of restaurants I’ve visited but the service, quality and value for money left me compelled to do so.. Wanted to say a BIG thank you from my wife & myself for a truly excellent meal & experience, it’s a genuine authentic taste of Italy & a hidden gem. Management/staff were very welcoming & helpful. By far the best Italian restaurant we’ve been to in a V long time & will definitely be returning very soon! P.s. The Chianti was exceptional too!”
3. Stefani’s Pizzeria
Stefani’s Pizzeria is based off Cedar Square and specializes in southern Italian cuisine, as well as Neapolitan pizza.
They offer freshly made pizzas, calzones and starters all cooked in their wood fired oven. Their ingredients are imported from Italy and they also serve Italian cakes, pastries and are proud to serve kimbo coffee and have a great selection of Italian beers & wines.
Stefani’s Pizzeria has been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food and service, but it did receive a 4.5 for value for money. 436 of the 472 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left just days ago (June 27) reads: “We ordered starters and pizza and I have to say, that the food was absolutely brilliant. The starters were fantastic and a very good the oven cooked haloumi was the business. The pizzas arrived fresh from the oven, we could not eat all the food, but they provided boxes for us to take away for later.”
4. Yorkshire Fisheries
Established as one of the oldest fish and chip shops in Blackpool, Yorkshire Fisheries are known as The Best Chippy in Blackpool. They serve haddock and cod and have daily specials. They welcome families and large groups as they have seating for 126 people. Take away is also available from here.
Yorkshire Fisheries, which is on Topping Street, has been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food and service and value for money, but it did receive a 4.5 for atmosphere. The restaurant has over 3000 reviews, and 2580 of them are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left a couple of days ago (June 28) reads: “This is a great local first and chip shop/restaurant. We had a first class meal with great service. I had plaice which was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They even offer small chip portions on meals. Would highly recommend.”
5. Mi Casa Su Casa
Mi Casa Su Casa, on Red Bank Road, is a fully licensed Mediterranean café/restaurant. The restaurant serves breakfast, snacks, tapas and fish and meat dishes with option to dine inside or “al fresco” in summers months.
Like the others on this list, Mi Casa Su Casa has been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food and service and atmosphere, but it did receive a 4.5 for value for money. 618 of the 680 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left on June 26 reads: “Second visit to this lovely restaurant and was as good as the first. Food choices was varied. Food arrived quickly and was delicious. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly and the service is excellent. The desserts are lovely too. Nothing but compliments for this lovely restaurant and staff. Highly recommended.”
6. Hungarian’s Restaurant
Hungarian’s Restaurant is an independent, family owned restaurant based in central Blackpool, just off Topping Street. The restaurant prides itself on a refreshing style of the Hungarian culture to accommodate any occasion. They offer a contemporary cuisine with traditional Hungarian specialities, using authentic Hungarian ingredients. Everything is accompanied by Hungarian beverages, such as traditional fruit brandies best known as “palinka”.
The restaurant has also been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food, service and value for money. Nearly all of the 157 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left two weeks ago reads: “Wish we lived near this restaurant as we’d go often. Lovely welcome. We were given very good advice on both the wines and food, and we loved everything we tried. Very reasonable cost for the quality. Do not hesitate to try this place, it is very unassuming but a quiet star.”
7. Pizza Grazie
Pizza Grazie is a unique wood fired pizza shop based in a church just off Bolton Street. They are part of Amazing Graze, a registered charity in Blackpool, which supports the homeless and vulnerable. Pizza Grazie serves, what they call, ‘the best pizzas in town’. Customers can also buy a ‘pay it forward pizza’ which will feed anyone homeless on the nights they’re open.
The restaurant has also been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food, service and value for money. Nearly all of the 177 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left just days ago (June 25) reads: “We came here after finding it online and after reading all of the positive reviews we had high expectations. We certainly were not disappointed! To say the food was good would be an understatement, it was beautiful and you could tell it was all fresh. The service was the best we have received in a long time, they were all friendly, polite and couldn’t do enough for us. We would 100% recommend this restaurant and would not hesitate to come back.”
8. Zest Of India
Zest of India is located on Squires Gate. It serves Indian cuisine (as the name suggests), and is available for both dine-in and take-away options. The restaurant also offers vegan options as well as gluten free options.
The restaurant has also been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food, service but it did receive a 4.5 for value for money. 207 of the 225 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left just three days ago (June 26) reads: “Amazing food and everything is freshly made. The chef comes out personally and visits the table to check up on the food. The tadka Dal was super delicious as I asked for it to be non-spicy and it tasted just like home.”
9. CuriosiTea At 23
CuriosiTea At 23 is located on Layton Road. They serve breakfast, lunch and brunch.
The restaurant has also been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food and service but it did receive a 4.5 for value for money and atmosphere . 191 of the 206 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left a week ago, reads: “Good place to stop for lunch. A friendly welcome and tasty food at a reasonable price. Had a jacket potato with cheese and salad and a proper mug of tea, lovely.”
10. Ambrosini’s
Ambrosini’s is an Italian restaurant and takeaway, offering home cooked Italian cuisine. They are located on Squires Gate Lane, and they cater for families and couples, birthdays and special occasions.
The restaurant has also been rated ‘5’ by reviewers, in all aspects of food, service, value for money and atmosphere. 834 of the 933 reviews are “excellent”.
The most recent review, left a week ago, reads: “There are some “restaurants” in Blackpool that you’d never want to go back to, so it was brilliant to find Ambrosini’s which was easily the best restaurant we’ve been to here. The exterior and location is definitely deceiving, but the interior and quality of food are amazing.
“The portion sizes are plentiful and everything we ordered tasted great (I’d recommend ordering a side of chicken wings so that you can dip your pizza crust in the sauce!). Being able to see the chefs in the kitchen tossing the pizza bases added to the authenticity. All in all, a fantastic meal in a place we couldn’t recommend highly enough.”
